Two promoted to new ranks in SP Fire Department

Two driver-operators from the Southern Pines Fire Department have been promoted to the rank of lieutenant.

Fire Chief Mike Cameron announced the promotions of Chris Farrell and Reid Lambert.

Farrell holds 28 certifications. He holds multiple awards, including two SAR Life Saving Medals and multiple Hurst Green Cross awards.

“Lieutenant Farrell has dedicated seven years to Southern Pines Fire Department and has shown exceptional dedication and professionalism during his career,” said Cameron on the department’s Facebook page on Sept. 2.

Lambert has 38 certifications. He also deployed in response to Hurricane Helene in 2024. He holds multiple awards, including a SAR Life Saving Medal and a SAR Fire Safety Commendation.

“Lieutenant Lambert has dedicated sixteen years to Southern Pines Fire Department and has demonstrated an immense level of hard work, commitment, and strong leadership throughout his career,” said Cameron.

Qualified prospective lieutenants went through a rigorous assessment process involving a hands-on instructional presentation that evaluated their ability to train and coach assigned personnel, and a personnel counseling scenario involving a counseling exercise and memorandum writing proficiency evaluation.
