The damage from the crash jammed the driver’s side door, and firefighters had to cut off the door to free the male driver. He was the only occupant of the Sierra and was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
The Optima traveled for approximately 250 feet from the point of impact before coming to a stop on the opposite shoulder of the road. The three occupants of the vehicle were examined at the scene and only had minor injuries. One of the occupants, the driver, later requested to be taken to the hospital to be checked out.
According to N.C. State Highway Patrol, the driver of the Optima will be charged with driving with a suspended license, failure to maintain lane, and DWI.Â
Responding to the scene were Eagle Springs Fire Department, Seven Lakes Fire Department, West End Fire Department, Moore County EMS, N.C. State Highway Patrol, and Burgess Towing.
