Fire departments across the county experienced a very busy day on Wednesday after being dispatched to several outside fires.
The Sandhills area has been under an advisory for burning due to the high danger caused by low humidity and windy conditions.
Two of the fires escalated to structure fire responses after involving small buildings or sheds.
Around 4:30 p.m., the Cypress Pointe Fire Department, along with mutual aid, was dispatched to a residence on Lone Pine Road in the Lakeview community. The blaze destroyed a small storage shed and damaged the rear of a car.
Later, at approximately 6:45 p.m., the Carthage Fire Department and mutual aid crews responded to a fire on Connell Road. The flames burned a large portion of a backyard and damaged a section of a storage shed.
No injuries were reported as a result of either structure fire. Quick response times and highly trained personnel help to contain these fires and prevent further damage.
Moore County residents are advised to keep an eye on weather conditions and check fire danger levels prior to burning.
