A driver escaped injury in a single-vehicle accident just outside of Carthage Friday. The accident occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Highway 15-501 in the area of Jannie Lane.
A Chevrolet SUV crossed the centerline, leaving the roadway and coming to a stop in the edge of the woods after crashing head-on into a tree.
The front of the vehicle suffered heavy damage. The male driver was the only person in the vehicle.
Traffic was down to one lane for a brief period of time while the vehicle was removed and highway patrol investigated the scene.
Responding to the accident was Carthage Fire and Rescue, Carthage Police, Moore County Sheriff’s Department, Moore County EMS and N.C. State Highway Patrol.
