Car takes down streetlight in Aberdeen crash

A crash in the parking lot of Hampton Inn & Suites in Aberdeen brought down a streetlight and sent at least one person to the hospital Tuesday afternoon.

Aberdeen Police said they were working to reconstruct the incident and are unsure how and why the collision happened.

According to officials, a Subaru Outback went over a curb and crashed into a streetlight, bringing the whole pole and concrete base out of the ground. The Subaru continued through the parking lot and down an embankment before stopping. The vehicle sustained heavy damage, including a completely ripped wheel from the frame.

No other vehicles were involved. The driver of the Subaru was taken to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital by EMS.
