Chainsaws needed to remove car after Eagle Springs crash

A man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries Saturday evening after his vehicle veered off the road and crashed into the wood line along N.C. Highway 705. The crash happened near the intersection of Highway 705 and Kennedy Road in Eagle Springs shortly after 6 p.m.

According to authorities on scene, the driver of a Honda Passport traveling south crossed the center line and left the roadway, struck several trees, and came to rest in a wooded area.

Chainsaws were needed to free the car from the debris so it could be accessed and towed.

The driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle. First responders told Sandhills Sentinel that the man was awake upon their arrival. He was transported to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital for evaluation.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. No further details were released at this time, but investigators with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said alchol was not suspected as a contributing factor at this time.

The N.C. State Highway Patrol, Robbins Fire Department, and Moore County EMS responded to the scene.
