Crains Creek Fire Department said two kittens were rescued in a house fire due to a closed door. However, other pets in the house did not survive.

In a Facebook post, Crains Creek Fire Department said firefighters were called to a structure fire on Marks Road in Cameron on Monday.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, the back corner of the home was burned and the roof was on fire.

“We were advised of two kittens, two birds, and two dogs in the home,” said Crains Creek Fire Department. “Sadly the two birds and dogs did not make it, but the two kittens were located hidden under the bed where the door was closed. Looking at the pictures you again will see the difference just closing a door can make for survival.”

“Thanks to them all for the hard work,” said Crains Creek Fire Department regarding everyone who helped at the fire.
