First responders were dispatched to a single-vehicle accident on Esther Road in Eastwood around 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
According to radio traffic, the Eastwood Fire Department arrived to find a vehicle down an embankment with a female lying outside the car. Due to the severity of her injuries, air care was requested to transport her to a trauma facility.
A landing zone was established in a field near the Eastwood Fire Department on N.C. Highway 73 in West End. Moore County EMS transported the patient to the landing zone under emergency traffic, where she was handed over to UNC AirCare for transport.
Esther Road was closed during the investigation and removal of the vehicle. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
The Moore County Sheriff’s Office, Eastwood Fire Department, Pinehurst Fire Department, and North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
