Family displaced after Saturday fire

A house fire on Saturday afternoon has displaced a Seven Lakes West family.

Heavy smoke was showing when first responders arrived at the house on Simmons Drive. Firefighters were able to knock down the flames before it moved farther into the structure.

The fire is being investigated as a “cooking accident” and caused heavy damage to the kitchen area. The rest of the home sustained smoke damage.

The family was able to make it out of the home safely, including the family’s dog.

Because of the damage to the inside of the house, the family will be displaced. The American Red Cross has been called to assist the family.

Seven Lakes Fire Department, West End Fire Department, Eagle Springs Fire Department, Eastwood Fire Department, Moore County Sheriff’s Department, Moore County EMS, and Moore County Public Safety responded to the fire.
