Southern Pines crash sends two to hospital

A two-vehicle collision occurred just before noon Monday, sending two drivers to the local emergency department. 

The wreck occurred at the intersection of Valley View Road and Brothers Road in Southern Pines. A Jeep Cherokee collided with another SUV on Valley View Road. The Cherokee went off the road and crashed through two fences. The other SUV blocked both lanes of traffic.

Both female drivers were taken to Moore Regional Hospital by ambulance for non-life-threatening injuries. 

The N.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the exact cause of the crash. 

The road from May Street to Brothers Road was closed for almost an hour while authorities cleared the road.
