Members of the Pinehurst Fire Department prevented an outside fire from spreading to condominium units on Friday.
The fire department, N.C. Forest Service, and Duke Energy arrived in the neighborhood in Pinehurst shortly after noon. The group was called to 85 Pine Valley Road, alongside Pinehurst Resort’s No. 1 golf course.
Officials told Sandhills Sentinel on scene that the fire spread quickly between two unoccupied condos. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, which spread to an area under the front concrete of one of the condos.
The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time, but officials were trying to track down the person who reported the fire to 911.
