A Good Samaritan banged on a man’s house to alert him that his home was on fire near Vass on Wednesday afternoon.
Crains Creek Fire Department announced on its Facebook page that fire crews were able to arrive at the burning home on Marks Road within four minutes.
The fire department said the blaze was burning on the east side of the home, “involving the door, porch, exterior wall, and interior areas including the attic, laundry room, and kitchen.” Fire damage was contained to the kitchen and laundry room; however, the entire home sustained heat and smoke damage.
“The resident was in the home and was not aware of the fire. An individual banged on the house and let him know,” said Crains Creek Fire Department about the Good Samaritan. The fire department reported that there were only minor injuries.
In the Facebook post, Crains Creek Fire thanked Moore County Sheriff’s Department and Cypress Pointe, Spout Springs, Fort Bragg, and Spring Lake fire departments for their assistance.Â
The Red Cross was notified to provide aid to the residents.
