A gunshot victim was airlifted from Veterans Memorial Field in Carthage Sunday evening around 8 p.m. The victim had driven himself to the Short Stop in Carthage and called for help.
According to Carthage Police, the victim called for help saying he had been shot and that he was in a white Dodge Ram at the store.
The man refused to give any information about who shot him or where he was at the time of the shooting.
Emergency crews arrived on the scene, and the decision was made to have the victim airlifted to a trauma center. He was transported by EMS to Veterans Memorial Field where UNC Tarheel 2 landed and flew the victim out. His condition is unknown at this time.

Carthage Police were on the scene at the Short Stop and could be seen examining the vehicle the victim was driving.
Responding to the scene were Carthage Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Department and the Carthage Police Department.
