Homeowner saves house from fire

Seven Lakes Fire and Rescue is commending a West End resident after they stopped a fire from spreading into their home.

Fire crews were called to the home in the 300 block of McLendon Hills Drive at 6:30 p.m. and arrived in minutes, said Seven Lakes Fire and Rescue.

“The fire was located in the rear of the home on the back covered porch and was spreading thanks to the wind into the void space towards the attic,” said Seven Lakes Fire and Rescue on its Facebook page. The homeowner used his household 16oz extinguisher and was able to stop the fire.

“Units were on scene in less than 4 minutes and searched for fire spread in the attic and found the fire had been extinguished fully by the homeowners’ quick actions and home extinguisher. If you don’t have one in your home, we suggest you add it to your pickup list. It really can be the difference between a save and a tragic loss.”
