Pinebluff road closes after dump truck overturns

A driver was taken to the hospital after a dump truck overturned on Thunder Road in Pinebluff Friday afternoon. The road was shut down for several hours while crews worked to remove the vehicle, clear the debris, and assess any damage done to the roadway.

The crash marked the fourth truck rollover reported in Moore County in a two-day period.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the driver was unfamiliar with the area and was traveling too fast as he crossed a bridge on Thunder Road and entered a sharp curve. The truck drifted slightly off the right side of the road, which caused it to overturn.

After being evaluated by EMS, the driver was taken to a hospital by emergency medical services with non-life-threatening injuries.

The vehicle belonged to DIRT R US Inc., a company based in Garner. The truck, which was a large, heavy model, was carrying a full load of dirt at the time of the crash. The force of the impact was so strong that it damaged the roadway’s surface after making contact.

Rockwell Towing responded to assist with recovery efforts. Pinebluff Fire and Rescue, North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the Moore County Sheriff’s Office, and the N.C. Department of Transportation were also on scene.
