The human remains that were found on the side of Murdocksville Road Sunday by a person driving an ATV have been identified, according to a statement on Tuesday by Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields.

The North Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner identified the victim as Jamal Bostic, of West End.

Authorities had been searching for Bostic since the summer. He was last seen on July 1 through a video chat. Fields stated then that Bostic was “going to a family picnic on Pine Hill Road in West End.”

Fields said “this incident is being investigated as a homicide by investigators of the Moore County Sheriff’s Office,” and they will not release any other details at this time.

Human remains found identified as 32-year-old missing man

Investigators closed Murdocksville Road between N.C. 73 and Doubs Chapel Road when the remains were found Sunday morning in the Eastwood community. The remains were located off the shoulder of the road near a bridge, just north of River Woods Road.

The side of the road was taped off as crime scene investigators worked the area. Sheriff Ronnie Fields was on the scene as well as Chief Deputy Richard Maness.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the victim, as they have been notified of the death of their loved one,” said Fields.
