Event Proceeds to Benefit Children of Fallen Heroes

A nod to both Moore County’s large military community, as well the local firefighters, law enforcement officers, and emergency medical personnel, Hyland Golf Club is hosting a day to say ‘thank you’.

An inaugural event, Hyland Hops for Heroes, is an invitation to all golfers to come out and play at a special “hero’s rate” on Sunday, September 9.

Proceeds from the event benefit local charitable organization Children of Fallen Heroes.

“For more than four decades, Moore County and the surrounding area have supported Hyland,” said Hyland Golf Club General Manager Doug Thompson. “We just want to show our appreciation by welcoming them out to the course, offering a special rate of $25, and then giving back to a great organization that supports the spouses and children of fallen heroes.”

The special rate is good for tee times scheduled between 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

The event also features free food and beverages from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., including free beer from Railhouse Brewery, courtesy of the golf club. Product demonstrations and a kid’s putting contest will go on throughout the day.

Additionally, several giveaways and prizes are also planned, including free golf for a year at Hyland. The highlight of the event is a skydiving demonstration in partnership with Children of Fallen Heroes and the All Veteran Parachute Team.

“We’re honored to partner with Railhouse Brewery, a veteran-owned business, to bring this event to Hyland,” said Thompson. “We want to encourage golfers and their families to come out and enjoy the golf course—which is in beautiful shape— and hopefully we’ll raise a lot of money for Children of Fallen Heroes. It’s going to be a good time for a great cause.”

Sally McGuire, who co-owns Hyland along with her two sisters Jane Daniel and Leslie Brown, says she is
excited for locals to come out and visit the course.

“Hops for Heroes is certainly our fun way of honoring the wonderful people who protect and serve us,” said McGuire. “But we also want them to come out and experience Hyland. We know the demographics of Moore County are shifting a little bit, with more and more military families moving in all the time. This is our opportunity to introduce ourselves to them, and to everyone else who maybe hasn’t been here before, or who hasn’t visited in a while. We’d love to have them come out and enjoy our course, and just have a good time together.”

Though reservations are not required for the festivities, tee times for Hops for Heroes must be reserved in advance. To schedule your tee time, contact the club at 910-692-6400.

More details about the day’s activities will be shared throughout the week leading up to the event through Hyland’s Facebook page (@HylandGolf) and Instagram account (@HylandGolfClub).
