Golf fans will recognize some familiar faces at the top of the USGA Women’s Amateur underway this week in Rockville, Maryland. Coverage of the event can be seen on Golf Channel.

Rachel Heck finished with the lowest score after the second round of stroke play Wednesday and was award Medalist honor. Rachel narrowly missed being Medalist at this year’s North & South Championship played on Pinehurst No. 2, loosing to her good friend, Ivy Shepard, in a playoff.

You will recognize Rachel Kuehn. The Wake Forest rising Sophomore from Asheville, NC won the 2020 Women’s North & South Amateur in Pinehurst.

Rachel had the lead at the end of the first day of the USGA Women’s open and finished Wednesday with the 8th seed.

Another Wake Forest standout is Emilia Migliaccio of Cary, NC, has a strong showing after day two. Emilia, with her Mother as caddie, made it to the Quarter Finals of the North & South, only to lose to Haylin Harris.

And of course, the winner of the 2019 North & South, Gabriela Ruffels, of Australia, went on to win last year’s USGA Women’s Open. Gabriela did well on the first two days this year.

Now that stroke play is over, the best 64 players will be paired up and face each other in Match Play.

The Round of 64 is scheduled to begin at 9:50 a.m. EDT on Thursday, with Golf Channel broadcasting live from 4-7 p.m. EDT.
