Man airlifted after being ejected in rollover crash

A man was airlifted to an area trauma center after a rollover accident in Aberdeen Wednesday afternoon. The accident occurred on Linden Road near the intersection of Vina Vista at Winds Way Farm subdivision.

The driver of an Nissan SUV was traveling toward Pinehurst when he ran off the left hand side of the road and onto the shoulder, according to officials on scene.

The Nissan then flipped several times before coming to rest near the entrance to Winds Way Farm neighborhood. He was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Due to the extent of his injuries, air care was called.

Moore County EMS transported the victim to a field across from Deep Creek Baptist Church on Linden Road. Pinehurst Fire Department set up a landing zone for Tarheel 2 to set down. The man was airlifted to UNC Hospitals. The extent of his injuries is unknown at this time.

One lane of Linden Road was closed for an extended time due to the accident.

The N.C. State Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the accident.

Responding to the scene were Aberdeen Fire & Rescue, Pinehurst Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, Pinehurst Police, and the N.C. State Highway Patrol.
