A man from Sanford was arrested after police reportedly found drugs inside a car parked at an Aberdeen park.
In a media release, the Aberdeen Police Department said officers were checking the park after hours on March 8 when they noticed an occupied vehicle. The name of the park was not released.
“They approached the vehicle and smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle,” wrote the Aberdeen Police Department in the media release on Friday.
The police department said Edgar Alexis Rivera Serrano, 23, was the driver, and a woman was in the vehicle with him.
“The vehicle was searched in order to locate the contraband, and a plastic bag containing a white powdery substance was located inside; Rivera Serrano confirmed that the substance was Cocaine,” wrote the department.
Officers also seized suspected Xanax, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and an open bottle of brandy from the vehicle.
Rivera Serrano is facing charges of felony possession of Schedule I controlled substance, simple possession of Schedule IV controlled substance, possession of marijuana, two counts of possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and possession of an open container.
His secured bond was set at $10,000.
