Authorities arrested a man and a 16-year-old juvenile Friday for breaking into cars in Southern Pines.
Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields announced the arrests Monday.
Law enforcement began an investigation after several Highland Trails residents reported on Sept. 2 their cars were being broken into. A month later, authorities arrested Norman Starling, 39, and the minor, both of Spring Lake.
Starling was charged with 19 counts of felony breaking or entering a motor vehicle and six counts of misdemeanor larceny. Fields did not provide any information on the teenager’s charges.
Starling’s bond was set at $5,000. He is due in court on Oct. 6 and is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
