Meet Moore People Gre'Anna Edwards

Meet Moore People is a series dedicated to the people we meet each day but do not really know; people who make Moore County a great place to live and work in.

Say “hello” to Gre’Anna Edwards.

Gre’Anna, 27, of Southern Pines, attends Diligent Care Inc. in Aberdeen where she has learned life skills for independence and enjoys history lessons, art, and friendships.

She named her friends from Diligent Care as Harley, Calvin, Donnie and Charlene, and with a vivacious smile, said she is going to wear green on St. Patrick’s Day. “I’m not going to get pinched,” Gre’Anna said with a laugh.

She has lived in Moore County for almost 15 years and has volunteered at FirstHealth Hospital, Food Lion, Michaels, Chick-fil-A, and Golden Corral.

Gre’Anna’s life’s motto is making others laugh. “She is a social butterfly,” Mary Ingram, her mother, said.

Gre’Anna has been active in Special Olympics and has earned 15 awards.

Concerning her private jet ride to Nebraska for the 2010 Special Olympics Nationals, Gre’Anna said she was never scared. She had been an alternate for the nationals and in a last-minute call, her mother could not make the trip with her daughter.

Gre’Anna returned with medals for the long jump, running, and the softball throw.
