A motorcyclist was airlifted after crashing in the Woodlake community near Vass on Tuesday afternoon. The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on Woodlake Boulevard at the intersection of Loblolly Drive.
According to radio traffic, the motorcyclist was ejected and lost consciousness for a brief period.
The motorcycle ended up in a pond approximately 50 feet from the embankment.
Due to the nature of the injuries, a landing zone was set up in a field nearby at the intersection of Lobelia Road and J Burns Road, and he was airlifted to a trauma center.
The condition of the male rider is unknown at this time.
N.C. Highway Patrol was on scene investigating the crash.
Responding units were Cypress Pointe Fire Department, Crains Creek Fire Department (setup landing zone for Air Care), Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Office and N.C. Highway Patrol.
