MPO announces 19th season

The Moore Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) announced its 19th season. MPO is a youth and community orchestra with open membership to advancing students, from middle school through college, and adult community members. The first event of the season is the Open House Fundraiser at Panera Bread in Southern Pines on Thursday, Aug. 31, from 4-8 p.m.

Board members will be present from 6-8 p.m. to answer questions regarding MPO and aid with registration for new members. To ensure your purchase supports MPO, present your digital or paper fundraising flyer to the cashier for in-person orders, which can be found on MPO’s website, Facebook, and Instagram. If ordering through the app, online, or at a kiosk, use the promo code FUND4U prior to payment.

No instrument? No problem! Open House is for musicians and non-musicians alike. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, MPO is sustained through the ongoing support of volunteers, whether it be financial support or time given at local events. Interested individuals should visit www.mporchestra.com and visit the support tab.

The season’s first rehearsal will take place in Wellard Hall at Sandhills Community College from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 7. Bring your instrument and be prepared to sight-read a variety of music for the season ahead.
