Nova Vita brings gluten-free bakery, craft coffee to Aberdeen

“Big city coffee” is meeting the small town charm of Aberdeen at Nova Vita Coffee, a newly opened specialty coffee shop and 100% gluten‑free bakery. The shop recently opened on West Main Street and now serves craft drinks, treats, and house‑made syrups in its “community-focused” gathering space.

“Nova Vita was born from three friends at a kitchen table that wanted to create a difference in our community, while providing the best coffee and gluten-free treats possible to our guests,” explains the company’s official website. “After years of not feeling like we had a third space within our hometown, we decided to take it in our own hands and create the space our hearts have been craving for a long time.”

Founded by three friends—Cori Bray, DJ, and Hanna—Nova Vita grew from a years‑long effort to create a “third space” in their hometown that wasn’t centered around alcohol. However, they still sought to bring the city vibe to Aberdeen, which is reflected in both the storefront itself and their slogan: “Big City Coffee Meets Small Town Charm.”

Bray leads the bakery as head baker, producing gluten‑free pastries and treats made fresh in‑house each day. The owners say Nova Vita is the first fully gluten‑free bakery in Moore County.

The café serves Black & White Coffee and Hugo Teas, with a menu built around espresso, seasonal drinks, and syrups made on site. The owners stress consistency and quality, saying they want each drink to “leave you wanting more.”

Inside, the shop features midcentury modern design elements, a sensory‑friendly backroom, and board games.

“We are excited to bring a new idea of coffee to our small town,” reads the website. “Everything we do is built around connecting with our guests and providing a welcoming space that you want to be a part of. The guest experience motivates us more than anything.”

The owners plan to host live music, workshops, and game nights as they settle into regular operations.

In a message to customers, the team thanked the community for its early support and credited Bedrock Construction and Morris House Design for bringing the space to life. “Getting to open this weekend and have Nova Vita come to life felt like the biggest gift in the world,” they wrote.

Nova Vita is currently in its soft‑opening phase, with plans to expand its menu and hours. Current hours are Tuesday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is closed on Mondays.
