Obituary for Carl Judd Ferguson of Aberdeen

Carl Judd Ferguson, of Aberdeen, NC, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the age of 87.

Carl was born January 4, 1937, in Wake County (Leesville Township), NC to Albert Ed & Hallie Martin Ferguson. He was predeceased by his parents, and nine siblings: five sisters, Margie, Sally, Mary Lou, Peggy, and Dorothy; four brothers, John Thomas, Jimmy, Albert Ed, and Donald.

Carl graduated from Millbrook High School in Raleigh in 1956. He served in the U. S. Army at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Aberdeen, Maryland. Carl was employed by Carolina Power & Light Company (Progress Energy/Duke Energy) in Raleigh in 1963 and was transferred to Aberdeen in 1974 as Superintendent of Transmission Line Maintenance. He retired in 1999 after thirty-six years of service.

Carl is survived by his wife of over 56 years, Virginia “Ginny” Barlow Ferguson, their son, Edward “Eddie” Carl Ferguson (Catherine), his two granddaughters, Karlyn Ferguson Fulcher (Zach), & Jolie Ferguson, Sister-in-law, Ann Ferguson, Brother-in-Laws, David H. Barlow III, and John Wesley Barlow, two step-granddaughters, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great-great nieces, & great-great nephews.

Carl was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, & uncle. He cherished his family with all his heart. Carl was a jack-of-all trades and could fix just about anything. He was a talented carpenter, gardener, and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed sharing his garden vegetables with family, friends, and neighbors. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his close friends.

Carl was a member of Southern Pines Lodge 484 and was Master of the Lodge for two years. He was an Honorary member of the Aberdeen Masonic Lodge and Hamlet Masonic Lodge as well as a charter member of the Amran Shrine in Raleigh.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 27 at Boles Funeral Home, 425 W. Pennsylvania Ave, Southern Pines, NC. Visitation begins at 1pm, Service at 2pm, with burial at Bethesda Cemetery in Aberdeen, NC to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Carl’s name to the charity of your choice.
