Obituary Fannie Mae Solomon of Southern Pines

Fannie Mae Solomon, 97, of Southern Pines, NC passed away peacefully on Monday, August 23, 2021 at her home.

Fannie Mae was born February 8, 1924 in Moore County, NC to the late Stanley Thompson and Marietta Crain Dunn.

Fannie Mae was a woman of great faith. She loved life and family was her greatest joy.  Her faith and strength of character helped her endure many hardships throughout life.  She cherished time spent in her garden tending to flowers, mowing and weed-eating, and getting her hands dirty filled her soul with peace.  She greeted everyone with her sweet smile and welcoming words.  She was known to many as the neighborhood mother.  She also loved music, long car rides and having a house full of people.  Her extra grandchild Jocee kept her young and vibrant.  As she declined she was fortunate to stay in her home and be surrounded by family and friends.  Being at home added life to her years.  Bananas were to Fannie Mae, what spinach was to Pop-Eye, and could have been one of the secrets to her longevity.   She was a special person and her presence is already deeply missed.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children:  Frances Bibey, Betsy Smith, Janet Aderholt, Dennis Solomon, Larry Solomon and Shirley Favela; nine grandchildren Rhyne, Rachel, Joshua, Hailey, Michelle, Eddie, Daniel, Ron and Greg; seven great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren and one special great grandchild Jocee Sheffield.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Roy Solomon and two sons Stanley and David Solomon.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Boles Funeral Home, 425 W. Pennsylvania Avenue, Southern Pines, NC 28387.
