Gwendolyn Mitchell St.Clair passed away peacefully at the age of 97.
She was born in Evanston, Illinois, the daughter of Minna Selena Trewartha Mitchell and John Lewis Mitchell.
She attended Stephens College before graduating from West Virginia University where she met her future husband, Gene St.Clair. Gwen and Gene were married for 63 years until Gene died in 2012. Gwen and Gene lived for most of their married lives in Charleston, West Virginia and Boca Raton, Florida before moving to Pinehurst, North Carolina to be closer to their two children and their families.
Gwen is survived by her son, Bill St.Clair, and his wife, Barbara St.Clair, from Durham, NC; her daughter, Susan Coleman from Concord, NC; 3 granddaughters, Rebecca Harris and her husband, Scott Harris; Sarah St.Clair, and Jennifer Smith; and a grandson Brian Coleman and his wife Amanda Coleman; and 4 great grandchildren, Cole Harris, Brooke Harris, Jamison Smith, and Jera Smith.
A celebration of life will be held for the immediate family and close friends at a later date.
