Josie Brigman Furr, age 76, of Vass, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Jeffrey Scott officiating.  Burial will follow in Highland Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home from 1:00 until 2:00.

Josie was born in Asheville, North Carolina on October 17, 1942 to the late Jack and Anne Banks Brigman. She proudly served her country in the U.S. Army. Josie worked for The Moore County Sheriff Office as a dispatcher for over 27 years. Some of the things she enjoyed were cooking and taking care of the deputies she worked with for so long, but last but not least she enjoyed spending time with her family.  She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

She is survived by her children, Anne Bivalacqua (Tony) of Fayetteville, Eric Maynard (Toni) of Florida, Jody Stonebraker of Jacksonville, N.C., Charles A. Furr, Jr. of Vass, Michael Sparks of Vass and Christy Dunlap also of Vass; sisters Margaret of Fayetteville and Sherrilynn; brother, William Gordon of Holden Beach; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Diabetes Association.

The family has entrusted services to Cox Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Vass.
