Landon Ronald Matthews, age 40, of Sanford, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at his home.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
Landon was born in Sanford, North Carolina on March 27, 1983 to Richard R. Matthews and the late Deborah Parrish Gregory.
Landon loved fishing, hunting, and camping. He loved all types of music and was a self-made musician playing the guitar and drums. He had a funny side about him and enjoyed being around people. He enjoyed his work on the cattle farm and taking the calves to Carolina Stockyards. He did electrical work and HVAC with the following companies, Tim’s HVAC OF Burgaw, Sure Temp of Sanford, and Gust Electrical service of Sanford. He attended Lee County schools and finished high school at CCCC. He took pleasure in studying the Word of God and other related Christian books. He loved to ride the side-by-side and four-wheeler on the farm while maintaining the pasture fences. He spent a lot of time with his German Shepherd, Moses. Landon will be missed by all those who knew him.
He is survived by his father, Richard R. Matthews; step-mother, Karen Marie Matthews; sisters, Marla Matthews McDonald (John) of Pennsylvania, Amanda Matthews Wiley of Winterville, NC; brother, Patrick Thomas Matthews of Sanford; step-brother, Anthony Bassil of Florida; nieces and nephew, Meghan and Bethany McDonald of Pennsylvania, Madison & Carson Wiley of Winterville, NC, and his beloved dog, Moses.
