Mary Tom Chriscoe of West End passed away Sunday, March 13, 2022 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital with family by her side; she was 91 years old.
She was born May 7, 1930 to the late Tom and Lena Lewis. She graduated from West End High School and went on to study at Commonwealth College in Virginia for an Interior Design degree. She was married to William Marr “Dubb” Chriscoe for 62 years and have two children, Martin and David.
She worked for the post office and as a teacher assistant at West End Elementary. Once retired, she enjoyed her grandchildren (and later her great grandchildren), her “lunch bunch” friends of fellow retired teachers. She was a very talented artisan with skills in painting, sewing and baking. She also took a lead role in the county’s Extension and Community Association.
Mary Tom was preceded in death by her parents Tom and Lena Lewis, husband W.M. Chriscoe, sister Fannie Lou Jantsen, brothers Mitchell and Wade Lewis. She is survived by a son Martin Chriscoe of Fuquay Varina and a son David Chriscoe (Judy) of West End; three grandchildren, Matthew Chriscoe (Lauren), Marianna Chriscoe and Meagan Chriscoe Michel (James); four great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Grayson Michel, Banks and Boone Chriscoe.
Services will be held Friday, March 18, 2022 at 1PM at the West End United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
