Perry Lee Slade, 59, of West End, died Wednesday afternoon, July 1, 2020, from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident near West End.
Perry was born January 25, 1961, in Pinehurst, NC and was a longtime resident of Moore County. He graduated in the 1979 class of Pinecrest High School. Perry was “everyman.” His work and life were as varied as his many friendships. Outgoing and kind, he never met a stranger. His love for children and pets…and for a good fishing spot, endeared him to all who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Jamie Lee Slade Bailey (Brian), Michael Slade, Christopher Slade, Jonathan Slade (Miranda); and his grandchildren, Tripp Bailey, Wyatt Bailey and River Slade; his siblings Gala Slade LeGrand (Keith), Eric Slade (Kellie) and Amy Slade Lanier; and by many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Perry is preceded in death by his loving parents, Percy and Ann Slade.
Family, neighbors and friends will meet at the Beulah Hill Baptist Church Fellowship Hall (7400 Beulah Hill Church Road, West End) during a brief, walk-through visitation on Monday, July 6 at 10:00 AM. COVID guidelines will be observed. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 AM in the church cemetery with Rev. Sammy Frye officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts and contributions in memory of Perry may be made to Beulah Hill Baptist Church – PO Box 492 Pinehurst, NC 28374 and Sandhills Children’s Center – 1280 Central Drive, Southern Pines, NC 28387.
