Rodney C. Rice, age 86, of Carthage, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst.
A native of Greenfield, MA he was a son of the late Russell and Theresa Spalding Rice. Rodney was a US Army Veteran and retired machinist. He worked for Pratt & Whitney in CT for 23 yrs and moved to North Carolina where he worked for Dupont as supervisor until retiring.
As a boy Rodney loved fishing, and taking care of the animals on the little farm. As an adult he and his wife Margie enjoyed gardening and small farming together. They also enjoyed going to the casinos in Atlantic City, NJ, and Mississippi.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Margaret McIntosh Rice and daughter Donna Medlin.
He is survived by his daughter Debbie Quadrozzi; brother Kenny Rice; sister Sandra Leonardo; three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and special friends Matthew and Alex Martini and Steve, Kim and Delainey Gerald.
A graveside service will be 3:00 PM Thursday at Union Presbyterian Church conducted by Rev. Jeff Mercer. There will be a visitation in the church fellowship hall (Stewart Building) beginning at 2:00.
