Obituary for George Thomas Schofield of Aberdeen

George Thomas Schofield, 56, of Aberdeen, North Carolina passed away at his home and stepped into the presence of his Saviour on May 2, 2024.

George was born on December 5, 1967, to James Schofield and Nancy Schofield in Poughkeepsie, New York. After graduating from Franklin Delano Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park, New York, he proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. While serving in the Marine Corps, a fellow Marine introduced him to Christ. He accepted the LORD Jesus Christ and became a new man. After discharging from the Marine Corps, he joined the United States Army. While stationed at Fort Bragg he met his wife, Faith, and found his church home in Southern Pines. While serving in the military he was awarded the following: Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Marine Corps Good Conduct (2nd award), Army Service Ribbon, Rifle Expert Badge, Sea Service Ribbon (3rd award), and Air Assault Badge. After his retirement from the military, he and his wife raised two boys, Thomas and John. George deeply cared for and loved his Saviour, his family, and his country.

George was predeceased by his daughter, Regan Emory Schofield, father, James Schofield, and mother-in-law, Nancy Rimbert.

He is survived by his wife, Faith, his sons, Thomas and John, his mother, Nancy Schofield, his siblings Debbie (Jon), Jimmy, Kelly (Joe), Alice, father-in-law Art Rimbert, brother and sisters-in-law, Art (Alan), Joy, Laura (Wes), as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2023 from 3:00-4:00 PM at Calvary Memorial Church with services following at 4:00PM.  Burial at Calvary Memorial Church Cemetery.
