Occupants uninjured after truck strikes fence

Three occupants escaped uninjured after their Ram pickup truck struck a fence in Aberdeen. The wreck occurred just before 2 p.m. Sunday on Sand Pit Road near the Aberdeen and Pinebluff border.

The crash occurred when the Ram truck deviated from the road and struck a wooden fence along the roadway. The truck barreled through several yards of fence before coming to a stop.

According to radio traffic, a second rescue unit was requested but was ultimately not needed. Although occupants were initially believed to be pinned in, they were safely removed from the vehicle and were able to remain on the scene.

Despite the damage to the pickup truck and fence, the occupants of the truck declined transport by EMS, who were present on standby.

The cause of the crash was not disclosed at this time.

First responders remained on scene to redirect traffic and clear debris even as a thunderstorm rolled in.
