One person was killed Tuesday morning in a head-on collision involving three vehicles on Highway 15-501, near S. McNeill Street, in Carthage.
According to Carthage Police investigating the crash, an Oldsmobile was traveling northbound on the highway when the male driver crossed the center lane and into the path of a southbound Kenworth dump truck. The impact of the collision forced the dump truck into the northbound lane, where it sideswiped a Sterling dump truck.
The driver of the Oldsmobile was killed, and the drivers of both dump trucks were not seriously injured. Authorities did not release the identity of the deceased.Â
Highway 15-501 was shut down for several hours while crews worked to clear the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
