The two occupants of a Nissan Versa were trapped in their vehicle after losing control and crashing Thursday night. The single-vehicle crash happened around 7:30 p.m. on McCaskill Road near Whispering Pines, just southwest of McLeods Corner.
According to Highway Patrol investigators at the scene, the Nissan was traveling toward N.C. Highway 22 when it lost control and slid off the roadway.
When the car hit a ditch and embankment, the impact caused it to roll over onto the driver’s side, leaving the two occupants trapped until emergency units arrived.
Firefighters used specialized equipment to cut the roof off the vehicle in order to safely remove the occupants. Both were then transported to Moore Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to Highway Patrol, neither person was wearing a seat belt and alcohol may have been a contributing factor.

McCaskill Road was reduced to one lane for a brief period while crews worked the scene and the vehicle was removed.
Responding units included Whispering Pines Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Office, and the N.C. Highway Patrol.
