Pedestrian struck by pickup truck

A pedestrian escaped serious injury after being struck by a pickup truck Tuesday in Aberdeen. The accident occurred on Highway 15-501 near Taco Bell around 8:30 p.m.

According to authorities, the man was crossing the highway from the area of Dick’s Sporting Goods heading to the Petsmart shopping area. He had made it almost across the highway when he was struck by a pickup truck.

When emergency crews arrived, he was lying beside the road. He was examined by paramedics and transported to the hospital with what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Aberdeen Police are investigating the accident.

Earlier in the day, a bicyclist was hit by a car a few miles north on Highway 15-501 in Southern Pines. He was airlifted to a trauma center. To read more on this, please click the picture/link below:
