A pedestrian was struck and killed on Hwy 211 about 2 miles into Hoke County near the intersection with Aberdeen Road.

The accident occurred at approximately 9:15 PM Saturday evening. The 52 year old male victim was walking westbound along the roadway when struck by a car driven by a young woman. She immediately stopped as did other cars that witnessed the accident. The impact threw the victim over thirty feet away landing in a grassy area beside the road. Several people immediately rushed to the victim’s aid, but he was already deceased. 

Hwy 211 was shut down in both directions while the accident was being investigated. Traffic coming from the Aberdeen area of 211 was rerouted down Carolina Road beside Kolcraft. The Highway Patrol is in charge of the investigation.

Responding to the scene were units from Aberdeen Fire & Rescue, Hoke County EMS, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, and the North Carolina State Medical Examiner.
