Physician assistant joins PMC primary care team

Pinehurst Medical Clinic (PMC) welcomes Maritza Abonza, PA-C, to the PMC Primary Care – West End department located at 4208 Murdocksville Road in West End.

Abonza received her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from High Point University, and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Peace College in Raleigh, N.C.

When treating patients, Abonza makes a point to understand her patients on a deeper level to develop a treatment plan to attain their unique healthcare goals, while providing the best possible outcomes. She also has a passion for minimizing health disparities.

Abonza joins the team consisting of board-certified family medicine physicians, Dr. Michael Brackman, and advanced practice providers, Jacquie Potynsky, PA-C and  Dusty Graham, FNP-C.

“I am excited to welcome Maritza to our team,” expressed Dr. Brackman. “Her addition will expand our reach and provide our patients with increased access to high-quality primary care.”

In addition to joining PMC Primary Care – West End, Abonaza is joining PMC’s primary care department with 24 physicians and 30 advanced practice providers who are board-certified in internal or family medicine. PMC primary care providers are experts in promoting healthy living, disease prevention, health maintenance, treatment of acute and chronic illnesses and more. As part of the PMC organization, primary care providers have access to several specialty care and wellness resources to provide the best possible care to improve their patients’ overall health and well-being.

When not caring for patients, Abonza enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, kayaking and going to the beach. She also enjoys reading and states her favorite book is “The House on Mango Street” by Sandra Cisneros.
