Pinehurst Medical Clinic was named the 2023 Practice of the Year at the North Carolina Medical Group Management Association’s (NCMGMA) fall conference, held Sept. 13-15, at the Grandover Resort & Spa in Greensboro.
NCMGMA’s Practice of the Year Award, sponsored by First Citizens Bank, recognizes a medical group practice that makes significant contributions to its community, patients, and staff through volunteer work, fundraisers, staff wellness programs, community clean-ups, and community screenings and education.
According to the Moore County Health Department’s 2019 Community Health Assessment, diabetes is the seventh leading cause of death in the county, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) listed it as the eighth leading cause of death in North Carolina in 2021.
As the only diabetes program accredited by the American Diabetes Association in Moore County, Pinehurst Medical Clinic’s DSMES program is committed to improving these statistics through collaboration and evidence-based resources to provide patients with life-changing results.
Outside of Pinehurst Medical Clinic’s DSMES program, the organization has supported the Moore Free & Charitable Clinic through financial donations and donations of time by several of their providers. Currently, the Moore Free & Charitable Clinic serves over 300 uninsured diabetic Moore County residents.
A $3,000 check was presented to Moore Free & Charitable Clinic as part of Pinehurst Medical Clinic’s Practice of the Year award presentation.
During the fall conference, over 180 attendees, speakers, sponsors, and exhibitors enjoyed continuing education led by presenters such as Dr. Gary Chapman; Joe Quitoni, CEO of Unify|Align; Michelle Wallace, ACMPE liaison for NC; Dr. Elizabeth Woodcock, CEO of Woodcock & Associates; the summer interns at Prosper Beyond; and the risk experts of Curi Advisory.
