Quick thinking prevents fire from spreading in Robbins fire

A fire broke out Wednesday night around 7 p.m. at a residence off Lakey Siding Road in Robbins, but thanks to the quick actions of the homeowners, no one was injured and the damage was controlled.

The fire started when a golf cart parked behind a camper caught fire as the three residents and their dog were settling in for the night. One of the homeowners noticed the smoke and ensured everyone got out safely.

The homeowners used fire extinguishers to prevent the fire from spreading before the fire department arrived.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames before the fire spread to the adjacent two-story home. No one was injured thanks to the quick actions of all involved.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Robbins and Carthage fire departments were among the responding units.
