Resort provides update on new hotel

The Pinehurst Resort recently provided an update to their plans for the construction of a 36-room hotel on the grounds of the Pinehurst Country Club. Director of Golf and Club Manager Ben Bridgers released artist renderings of the facility showing an aerial view, site map and building elevations.

The Lodge at Pinehurst will cost $16.2 million and will include guest rooms, meeting spaces, locker rooms, and a bar and viewing area.

The location is planned for 1.2 acres facing The Cradle Short Course that is now used for croquet lawns. A preliminary site plan shows the croquet lawns relocated between the hotel and The Cradle.

Last year, the USGA announced it will add four U.S. Open Championships to be played on Pinehurst No. 2 in 2029, 2035, 2041 and 2047. They had previously committed to hold the U.S. Open in 2024.

A second USGA headquarters in Pinehurst, to be called Golf House Pinehurst, was part of that announcement. It will include a separate $18 million equipment-testing facility, innovation hub, museum/visitor center and offices by the year 2023.

An estimated date for the hotel opening is March 1, 2024.
