SCC Jazz Band Presents 'Takin’ a Chance on Love!' - Feb. 9

The SCC Jazz Band, the “Sound of Swing in the Sandhills” for over 58 years, will hold a concert on Monday, February 9, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. The concert will be held in BPAC’s Owens Auditorium, on campus at Sandhills Community College, 3395 Airport Rd., Pinehurst.

Join the SCC Jazz Band for a concert celebrating “Takin’ a Chance on Love!” with jazz and swing favorites from the 1920s to the 1980s. Some of the tunes you are sure to know are: “Somewhere My Love” from “Doctor Zhivago”, “L-O-V-E”, featuring Dr. Paul Murphy on the piano, “If I Loved You”, “Gimme Some Lovin”, “Lover Come Back to Me”, “Hayburner”, and “Down for Double”.

The SCC Jazz Band is led by Dr. Larry Arnold, Professor Emeritus at UNC Pembroke and long-time Aberdeen resident. Among the talented local musicians who you may know are Chris Dunn, Executive Director of the Arts Council of Moore County, Dr. Angela Matthews, Music Director at Southern Lee High School, Rob Hill, Music Director at Union Pines High School and former director of the Jazz Band, and Dr. Neal Yocom, former Band Director at the American School of Paris for 28 years.

BPAC offers concessions for purchase, including wine, beer, soda, and snacks. No outside food or drink is permitted.
