In front of a large and enthusiastic audience at the April 7 Moore County Board of Education meeting, the following students, staff, and volunteers were honored as part of the Engage. Inspire. Succeed initiative.
Haley Bullard, The Community Learning Center at Pinckney, Certified Staff
Haley Bullard is a remarkable English educator who transforms learning for alternative education students, said Moore County Schools. Through high expectations, creativity, and engaging lessons, she inspires even the most reluctant learners. Her passion for creative writing ignites a love for self-expression, while her thoughtful selection of reading genres captivates students whom other educators struggle to reach. With positivity and kindness, she uplifts her students and colleagues, fostering a supportive environment for all. Adored by her students, she not only teaches but also changes lives, proving that with the right approach, every learner can find their voice and develop a deep appreciation for literature.
Terri Grant, The Community Learning Center at Pinckney, Support Staff
Terri Grant brings years of wisdom, experience, and a deep love for her alternative education students to her role as lab facilitator, said the school district. As a consistent and unwavering source of support, she ensures that every learner feels valued and capable of success, no matter the obstacles they face. Her dedication extends beyond the classroom—she takes the initiative on the school leadership team, always stepping up to serve her students and colleagues. Committed, compassionate, and driven, she does whatever it takes to help students thrive. Her impact is immeasurable, and her devotion to Pinckney makes her an irreplaceable force in the school community.
Catina Roberts, Crain’s Creek Middle School, Certified Staff
Catina Roberts has worked in multiple positions within Moore County Schools and is currently serving as a 7th-grade ELA teacher, said the district. She is a dedicated professional who does whatever it takes to ensure her students receive the best possible education. Her well-balanced approach to teaching offers a nurturing environment while pushing her students to perform at a high level. She is an exemplary teacher who serves as a model for the “Falcon way.”
Jacqueline Griffin, Crain’s Creek Middle School, Support Staff
Jacqueline Griffin has worked at Crain’s Creek since 2023 as a data manager, said the district. Aside from performing her job at an exceptional level, she goes above and beyond daily to interact with, mentor, and coach students, while also serving as our cheerleading coach. Her personality brings energy to the campus each day. She is an exemplary staff member who serves as a model for the “Falcon Way.”
Malachi Thomas, The Community Learning Center at Pinckney, Student
Malachi Thomas is a shining example of perseverance and dedication, said the district. Maintaining a 3.0 GPA, he has overcome obstacles with determination, focus, and an unwavering commitment to success. His strong attendance, respect, and kindness make him a role model both in and out of the classroom. With a goal-driven mindset, he is on track for early graduation while also pursuing the Sandhills Promise Scholarship to continue his education in workforce courses. His ambition to become a welder showcases his hard work and resilience. Through good citizenship, strong manners, and a caring spirit, Malachi is making his school and family proud.
NCHSAA 3A Indoor Track and Field 300M State Champion: Jadon Sterling, Union Pines High School
Union Pines junior Jadon Sterling delivered an outstanding performance at the N.C. High School Athletic Association 3A state indoor track and field championships in Winston-Salem, securing the 300-meter state title, said the district. Sterling also earned second place in the long jump and fourth place in the triple jump, helping lead the Vikings to a third-place team finish. His impressive results earned him Most Valuable Player honors for the meet, with the team achieving 12 top-eight finishes and earning all-state recognition. Congratulations to Jadon and the Union Pines track team on this incredible achievement!
