Set your sweet tooth: Wishflower Lane opens Friday

A new ice cream and handmade goods store opens on March 24 in Carthage at 26 Courthouse Square.

Wishflower Lane is the heart project of Klarissa Dimmick and her husband, Ian Dimmick.

Originally from Oregon, the couple is planting roots in the small town with a bygone-days flavor.

“We plan on staying. Ian is Army and retires in two years,” Klarissa said about living in Foxfire and loving the area. “Our parents are moving here, too.”

The ice cream selection is from locally sourced dairy near Greensboro, and the nostalgic candy selection is comprised of Ian’s favorites, with more coming.

“I had to offer sugar-free because I’m diabetic,” Klarissa said about the sugar-free Moose Tracks and Toasted Almond ice cream flavors.

The soft-serve ice cream machine will be installed on Thursday.

“We found swirl dip cones in Oregon, and the closest one here is at the beach, so we decided we needed one here,” Klarissa said.

This is their first brick-and-mortar store. Klarissa had a booth at Twigg & Co. in Aberdeen. She makes bracelets, charms, signs with a laser engraver, and T-shirts.

Wishflower Lane also offers lactose-intolerant ice cream.

“All soft-serve ice cream will be lactose-free. My nephew is lactose intolerant,” Klarissa said about Hayden Horton.

Ian will come in each morning to make fresh waffle cones.

Wishflower Lane is next door to Kitten Around Cat Lounge, and the owners live next door to one another.

Visit Wishflower Lane Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and pick up your first reward card. Buy 10 scoops and get one free with the punched card.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays.

Wishflower Lane will host a joint grand opening event on April 15 with Kitten Around Cat Lounge. There will be a ribbon cutting with the mayor, a face painter, and giveaways and prizes.
