Southern Pines home damaged in fire

A fire in Southern Pines Saturday night left a home with significant damage. The home is located in the 500 block of S. Henley Street. The blaze broke out just after 8 p.m.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found flames showing from the back corner of the home, and everyone had safely evacuated.

Firefighters attacked the flames from the outside and inside of the home. The fire was out within a short period of time, but not before it had done significant damage to the home.

Southern Pines Police had several blocks shut down to traffic while fire crews worked. The Red Cross responded to the scene to render assistance to the resident. The Southern Pines Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.

Responding to the scene were Southern Pines Fire & Rescue, Aberdeen Fire & Rescue, Pinehurst Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, and Southern Pines Police.
