T-bone crash injures one

A two-vehicle collision Wednesday afternoon shut down a road and sent one driver to the hospital. The T-bone accident happened around 4:30 p.m. on Cypress Church Road at the intersection of Atkins Road just outside of Vass.

According to authorities on scene, a Subaru Forester was stopped at the intersection and pulled out into the path of a Honda Civic traveling toward Vass. The Subura was struck in the driver’s side, causing it to spin around before overturning onto its side. The Honda came to a stop in the intersection with heavy front-end damage.

The female driver of the Subaru was trapped in the vehicle until emergency units arrived and extricated her. She was checked out at the scene by EMS but was uninjured. The male driver of the Honda was transported to Moore Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Cypress Church Road was shut down for about an hour while crews worked the scene, and the vehicles were removed.

N.C. State Highway Patrol was on the scene investigating the crash.

Cypress Pointe Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Office and N.C. State Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
