Teen arrested in Aberdeen home breaking and entering case

A teenager was arrested for allegedly breaking into an Aberdeen home, according to a news release by the Aberdeen Police Department.

The investigation began on Jan. 25 when officers and investigators were called to the Berkley community regarding a home that had been broken into and damaged.

“The victim reported the door to an unoccupied home he just renovated had been kicked in, and damage was done inside,” said the Aberdeen Police Department. “Investigators processed the scene for evidence and canvassed the neighborhood for additional information. Investigators eventually obtained a lead and conducted additional search warrants to obtain evidence.”

Police identified the suspect as a 16-year-old male juvenile from Aberdeen.

“On February 29, 2024, Aberdeen Investigators obtained a juvenile petition on the juvenile, through Moore County Juvenile Justice for Felony Breaking and Entering into a Residence. On March 26, 2024, the juvenile petition was fulfilled and will be processed through Moore County Juvenile Court, according to the Aberdeen Police Department.”

Police did not release the suspect’s name or photo due to his age. He is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
