A dump truck overturned in Vass Thursday afternoon, marking the third overturned truck that Sandhills Sentinel reported on in one day.
“Among the eight calls we responded to today, this one involved a dump truck that overturned in a sandpit off Furr Road,” writes Cypress Pointe Fire and Rescue on Facebook. “The load shifted, resulting in the truck rolling onto its side, and fortunately, the operator was uninjured.”
No other details were released.
However, earlier Thursday morning, a semi-truck overturned near the intersection of McReynolds Street and Old Glendon Road in Carthage, where it slid into the parking lot of Bibey’s Automotive. The driver was uninjured and declined treatment.
A few hours later, another truck overturned in Carthage, this one on Brinkley Road just off of U.S. 15‑501. Radio traffic indicated that EMS was canceled, and the driver was not transported after first responders arrived.
Both Carthage incidents resulted in road closures while crews spent hours removing the trucks and debris.
